Hello June

Guess who's back...

After living like a hermit for the past few weeks while completing a huge heap of uni assessments, I can confirm I am finally free!
:-D

I honestly don't know where the last 8 months have gone.
It seems like just yesterday I was experiencing my first taste of student life, and now I'm about to go into my third year! Madness.

But before then I have summer to look forward to - and despite the fact a lot of it will be spent working - I'm determined to make the most of it before the scary prospect of returning for my final year. Eek.

June is set to be an exciting month... with my birthday right at the start, followed by a trip home, and then back again for a work placement... It's gonna be a busy one! :-)

But for now, here's a lil' snapshot of the last month...

Hello November

For some reason October seems to have been a really long month, though I'm not complaining as the way this year is flying by it'll be 2016 before we know it...

crazy right?!

I've enjoyed my first month back at uni and have jumped straight back into student life.

Ahh the joys of living independently again! Cooking for myself, doing as I please and feeling rich after receiving my student loan payment (and slightly poor following the rent cheque!)

Although that hasn't stopped me treating myself to a few bits and taking full advantage of the fantastic student discounts floating about - well it would be rude not to!

Highlights of the month have been moving into my new flat, getting to know my flatmates (they're totally cool fyi), catching up with old friends, enjoying a couple of nights out, a few nice meals and a spot of shopping for good measure. Not a bad month at all.

What did your October look like? Did you celebrate Halloween?

Eat Nourish Glow

Having a three month summer break from uni means I've had plenty of time to indulge in things that I wouldn't normally have time for, such as staying in bed until 11am on weekdays, watching daytime TV and reading non-journalism/educational based literature.

Ok so the first two aren't exactly true (not everyday, anyway) but the third is something that I definitely miss during term time when I have lectures to attend and mountains of work that needs doing when I'm not in class.

I love a good book and usually opt for easy-reading chick-lit or glossy fashion mags when I want to unwind - although health and nutrition is another area I am very passionate about.

Fresh ingredients for making green juice

After reading many of Amelia's articles and following her blog,
Eat Nourish Glow was on my list of must-reads.

When my sister kindly surprised me with it I began reading it straight away and read the entire thing in a matter of days.

Chicken and pumpkin soup

Amelia's philosophy about food and the modern diet is spot on. Instead of focusing on eating 'low-fat', 'fat-free' and 'diet' 'health' foods she discusses the importance of eating real and natural whole foods that have not been processed or messed around with by manufacturers.

The book is a real eye-opener to how dangerous processed food is and highlights how a poor diet can be the cause of so many health issues and diseases, not to mention the rising rates of type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Amelia's courgetti, a delicious alternative to pasta

Although I try to maintain a good diet and eat healthily, this book has definitely made me look closer at my eating habits and encouraged me to make some positive changes going forward.

I strongly recommend it to everyone - whether you're interested in health and nutrition or not.
The simple layout, easy-to-follow recipes and pretty pictures will keep you glued and you will most definitely learn something new.

Have you read Eat Nourish Glow? What did you think?

Inecto Naturals Coconut

Inecto are a British beauty brand who focus on 100% natural beauty using only sustainably sourced ingredients and organic oils.

All of their products are vegetarian and vegan friendly, and are never tested on animals.

Having already tried several products from the Inecto Naturals Coconut range I was extremely excited to try the new Deliciously Rich Coconut Bath and Shower Cream and Super Scrub Coconut Body Scrub.

Both products smell equally delicious and automatically transport you to an exotic destination with their sweet tropical scent.

The Super body scrub is the perfect combination of small exfoliating beads and nourishing organic coconut oil which boosts circulation and buffs away dead cells leaving skin feeling silky smooth and sporting a healthy glow.

The bath and shower cream is exactly what it says on the bottle - thick, creamy and deliciously rich. The cream forms a luxurious lather that you can feel moisturising your skin as you wash leaving it clean, soft and smelling good enough to eat.

Both products have become an essential part of my summer skincare routine and are a definite must for getting beach body ready and preparing to slip into those sexy summer shorts.

Have you tried any products from the Inecto range? Which ones are your favourite?

July

Another month over... only 4 months until Christmas!! *eek*

We are bang in the middle of summer and although the weather has been a little hit and miss I have enjoyed the little bit of sunshine we have had.

This month I said goodbye to my old uni flat and moved back home for summer.

Home cooked food, a double bed and no laundry = heaven!

I have been back for 2 weeks and so far, so good, although knowing me it won't be long until I'm pining for my own space and counting down the days until I'm living alone again!

Last weekend we welcomed a new member to the family... meet Ralph the staffy!

He is an adorably cheeky bundle of joy and truly lives up to the name 'Wreck it Ralph', but we are in love with him and can't picture life without him now he's here.

As well as being licked, bitten and chewed to death, I have been enjoying long walks in the park, spending time with family and relaxing as much as possible before the hard work commences in September.

Over the next few weeks I plan to do more catching up with family and friends as well as taking part in my share of the puppy duty.

What have you been up to this month? Any exciting plans for August?
