Happy Halloween!

I’ve never been a huge Halloween person. I used to enjoy trick or treating when I was younger and loved coming home with a big stash of sweets, but the whole dressing up/throwing a party thing has never really appealed to me. If I’m honest, I like to get Halloween and bonfire night out of the way and then look forward to the main event… CHRISTMAS!!
I think if I lived somewhere like the US where Halloween is a BIG deal and they treat it like a proper holiday then my opinion of it would change, but as it’s not that big here in the UK I’m not too fussed either way, although I have been looking forward to watching Hocus Pocus!
Anyway, this year I was invited to a Halloween party with a few of my best friends and it was actually a great night. Some of the costumes were really cool and the make-up was amazing! They put my measly cat outfit to shame haha! We enjoyed a few drinks, had a dance to some Halloween tunes and had an all-round fab night J
Heres some of the pics…

Toni & Guy Prep Volume Plumping Mousse

After recently discovering their impressive Glamour Volume Plumping Whip, I was keen to try more from the Toni & Guy range. They recently took the fashion scene by storm and made a big impact backstage at fashion week with their new Hair meet Wardrobe collection which has received rave reviews.

In search of a new blow-dry mousse, I took a trip to Boots and came across the Toni & Guy Prep Volume Plumping Mousse. I am always on the lookout for products offering volume and big hair as in my opinion; bigger is always better (when it comes to hair of course).

The mousse has a luxurious, thick texture and a little bit really does go a long way - I was a little over keen and wasted a lot of product on the first use. It has a non-sticky formula and feels nourishing on the hair which in my experience is rare with drugstore products.

After blow drying, my hair was definitely bigger and bouncier and actually felt thicker. This is the third Toni & Guy product that I am impressed with and will definitely be re-purchasing. The others that I recommend are the Glamour Volume Plumping Whip and the Sea Salt Texturizing Spray. Next on the ‘to try’ list: the Curl Defining Oil, watch this space…

Have you tried any products from the Toni & Guy collection? Any recommendations?

Laura Paige Lipsticks

 Sherbert and Candy

Last week I discovered Laura Paige lipsticks on eBay and at 99p a go, the urge got the better of me and I added the shades Candy and Sherbert to my basket. Unfortunately the above picture does not do the colours justice and it is hard to tell the difference between the two! But I can assure you they are different in the flesh. Having never tried/heard of this brand before my theory was £1.98 is not a huge amount and it’s not going to be the end of the world if they turn out to be disappointing, so I may as well give them a go…
I was happy to find that despite the small price tag, the quality is actually pretty good and I have received compliments on the vibrant colours when wearing them. Each stick is easy to apply and is fairly pigmented without being too vibrant; which makes it suitable for day wear as well as at night. The texture is moisturising and leaves a nice glossy finish which lasts around 3-4 hours before the need for reapplication.

Overall I am happy with these lipsticks, the only thing I would point out is that the ingredients probably aren’t great due to the low cost so if you are big on using only natural and organic products these probably wouldn’t be suitable for you!
Check out the lipsticks and all the other available shades here.
Have you tried these lipsticks or any other Laura Paige products?

Texturisers: V05 Vs Fudge

I am a huge fan of texture, I loved the beachy-waves look from summer and am now loving the grungy, messed up look for fall. When I want to add extra waves to my hair I style it using mousse and a sea salt spray, but another way to create great texture is by using a texturizing spray.
I have used the VO5 Give Me Texture Dry Texturizing Spray £3.49 for a while now and have lost count of the times I have re purchased. It works so well on my hair and makes styling after washing much easier, sometimes hair can be too soft and clean to style straight away so a few sprays of this give it a bit of grit and volume. It also doubles up as a dry shampoo and absorbs oil in between washes, for under £4 it’s a bargain and a firm staple in my hair kit.
I noticed the Fudge Urban Texture Blaster £6.99 when I was shopping on the Superdrug website recently – I’m not sure if this is a new product but I haven’t seen/heard of it before. I have used Fudge products previously and they are used in my hair salon so I know they are pretty good quality and smell gorgeous too. I decided to give the Texture Blaster a go to see how it compared to the V05 spray.
Sadly I was disappointed. I have used the spray a few times now and each time my hair has been left SO crispy and feeling as though it needs to be washed straight after. It reminds me of a really bad, cheap hairspray that just sticks hair together and causes knots and breakage – definitely not what I want! It’s also hard to spray and seems to take effort to release the spray from the can. The only thing I liked about the product was the smell, but for almost double the price of the V05 it definitely does not compare and I will not be re purchasing.
Have you tried this product? Are there any other good texturizing sprays worth trying?

Berrylicious Beauty

Fall is upon us and amongst great things such as Halloween, cosy jumpers, hot cocoa, and open fires; berry shades and autumn-scents are one of the fabulous things that this season brings.
Gone are the pretty, pastel, pink shades from summer, it’s all about deep reds, dark browns, dusky purples and rich, berry tones for a glamorous and vampy make-up look.

Style Inspiration: Miranda Kerr

She’s been one of the most photographed models during fashion week season both on and off of the catwalk and in my opinion she is one of the most beautiful women around. One can’t deny that her style is impeccable - whether she is spending time with her son, shopping or on the red carpet she never fails to look flawless and her wardrobe is the envy of many fashionistas – myself included, there's not a lot I wouldn't do to have her closet!
Here are some pictures of the stunning and inspirational Miranda Kerr.
