Black, White and Burgundy

One of my favourite fall colour combinations is black, white and burgundy. Black and white are staple colours in any wardrobe whatever the time of year and when paired with burgundy they create a warm and cosy look with added chic.
What’s your favourite colour combo?

L'Oreal Paris Studioline sprays

You have most probably seen the adverts for the new L'Oreal Paris #TXT range on TV, in magazines or plastered over social networking sites, if not, let me introduce you to the latest super styling products the brand have to offer.
I love L’Oreal. Both their hair and makeup products never fail to disappoint me, plus they have some of the hottest women representing their brand (Eva, Cheryl, Doutzen and Barbara to name a few). I am a sucker for good advertising and pretty packaging so when I first saw the advert for the spray I knew it was something I had to try.
Starting with the supersizing spray, I just want to point out that this smells amazing! It’s so fruity – almost like apples which is not what I was expecting – and the scent lasts all day. The spray works to add volume and texture to roots and is similar to a dry shampoo as it absorbs excess oil. It really made a noticeable difference to my just-washed hair and added height at the back while giving it texture and creating a nice swish.
I used the salt spray on damp hair before blow drying, although you can also use it on dry hair too. Only a few generous spritzes are required to give hair that beachy texture and tousled waves. Although I am loyal to my Toni & Guy salt spray, I am glad I tried this one as it measures up pretty well so I would be happy to re purchase this one in future.
Boots currently have an offer on Loreal Studioline products (2 for £4.50).
As much as I love trying new products I think one of my new year’s resolutions is going to be to finish products before I go and buy more as I currently have drawers full of half used products that are being neglected because I keep buying more and more! I’m running out of space!
Have you tried any products from the #TXT line yet? What did you think?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Sugar Plum

In my opinion Rimmel has always been a middle of the road drug store brand. I find the quality and prices reasonable and fairly average - their products can be pretty good but I wouldn’t describe them as amazing.
They have a wide range of lipsticks and offer some cool colours, my past experience with them has been ok and at around £5 for a lipstick it’s a reasonable price. I am loving purple and berry shades at the minute so I wanted to try the Sugar Plum shade from the Lasting Finish range.

The lipstick provides a lovely shimmer and the colour isn’t too rich, I’d describe it as more of a pinky purple as opposed to a darker one. The stick is easy to apply and is quite thick with high pigmentation so only a couple of coats are needed. It lasted a good few hours before needing reapplication and even after this my lips had a nice berry coloured stain which still looked good. I also love the soft, vanilla scent which adds a nice touch.
I would rate this lipstick 7/10. I love the colour and there are many other pretty shades in the collection. The quality is good for the £5 price tag and Rimmel makeup is regularly on offer in Boots so it may be worth waiting for the next promotion before treating yourself :-)
Have you tried Rimmel lipsticks? What's your favourite shade?

The Body Shop Beauty Buys

I love this new limited edition eye shadow palette from The Body Shop. When I saw it on offer for £20 in a set with the Boudoir pink Sparkling Body Shimmer and with the added bonus that I save an extra 10% with my Body Shop card - I snapped it up straight away!

The colours are ideal for the up and coming party season and provide the perfect amount of shimmer and sparkle for a glamorous evening look. The purple shades are a different choice for me as I tend to stick to a black/white/silver or bronze/gold smoky eye, so I am looking forward to experimenting with these berry tones.

The Bodyshop Sparkling Body Shimmer in Boudoir Pink

If you read this blog regularly you will know how much I love a bit of glitter and sparkle so I am equally thrilled with this shimmer mist that can be used on the body, hair and face. I used it the other night before going to a party and it works fabulously as a highlighter on cheeks and also added a glitzy shimmer in my hair. It has a sweet, subtle scent and a little bit really does go a long way!

I can’t wait to use the eyeshadow and shimmer spray together over the festive season to create a gorgeous, glittery party look :-)

What Body Shop products do you like?

October

Is it just me or do the months seem to go faster the nearer we get to the end of the year? October has flown by crazy fast and it feels as though I haven’t really done anything (bar wrap up warmer and re discover my electric blanket).
As you are probably aware from previous posts I am now a student so a lot of my time has been spent studying, writing essays and attending college. I have started volunteering at a local primary school one afternoon a week, working with 5 year olds is tiring but so fun! I’ve also been helping plan and organise exhibitions at the museum which is cool.
I want to gain as much experience as possible before I go to Uni next year and I love trying new things and meeting people so I'm keeping busy but having fun :-)
Highlights of the month have been a visit from my grandparents, going to a great Halloween party and enjoying some relaxing ‘me time’ during half term.
What have you been up to this month?
